The fully-equipped in-house laboratory can deliver accurate results, 24 hours a day, within 30 minutes of a sample being collected. It is essential in making accurate diagnoses and in monitoring patients’ conditions and responses to treatment.
Unfortunately there is no magic blood sample that tells us exactly what is wrong or what your pet may have eaten.
V.E.T.S routinely run blood samples when they are working. These include biochemistry, haematology, electrolytes, lactate, blood gases and acid/base. We can now also offer in-house blood coagulation testing.
In addition to mechanically analysing blood we also regularly use the microscope to examine cells and crystals found in blood, urine or any other fluid.
Sometimes specific tests are required from an external laboratory so samples are often sent away for analysis. The results may take from a few hours to several days.
